Embedding YouTube Content

Updated May 8, 2026

You have two options for playing a video:

YouTube URLs:

YouTube Video ID:

So-called short URLs or very short URLs are not supported. Various providers, such as TinyURL, Bitly, or t1p, offer the option to shorten a URL. The edudip platform does not support any of these shortened URLs.

Example of not supported YouTube URLs:

For security reasons, the YouTube URL (https://www.youtube.com) must be present in the link. Alternatively, the video ID can be used. Our system will then automatically complete the URL with https://www.youtube.com/. YouTube Shorts are not supported at this time.

However, you can right-click on the YouTube Short, select "Copy video URL" from the context menu, and then embed the full video.
